Bargara Esplanade Turtle Park Gets a Sustainable Upgrade with Play Matta™

Nestled along the pristine shores of Bargara, Australia, the Turtle Playground has long been a beloved destination for families seeking outdoor fun. However, concerns arose when the previous rubber softfall surface began to disintegrate, resulting in rubber crumb that ended up in the ocean, posing a threat to marine life. But now, thanks to a collaborative effort between the local council, Creative Playground Surfaces, and Play Matta, a new and eco-friendly solution has been implemented to address this issue.

The innovative solution involves using an interlocking system made of recycled plastics from Play Matta, which is laid over the old surface to create a durable and safe matting for the playground. This new matting not only provides a soft and bouncy surface for children to play on, but it also prevents the rubber crumb from ending up in the ocean. Play Matta's matting is made from recycled plastics, including hospital IV bags, which are sourced from local suppliers, reducing the demand for new plastics and helping to minimize environmental impact.

One of the key advantages of Play Matta's matting is its recyclability. Once it reaches the end of its life, it can be recycled again, further reducing its environmental footprint. This aligns with the growing demand for sustainable solutions in playgrounds, especially in areas near waterways like the Turtle Playground. Families visiting the park are already enjoying the new matting, with local members of the community praising its softness, bounce, and safety for their little ones.

But the environmental benefits of Play Matta's products don't stop there. The company also offers a cost-effective and sustainable playground resurfacing program called Play Matta Re-Cover. This program repurposes poured-in-place (PiP) surfacing, which would otherwise end up in landfills, into new matting, reducing the need for waste disposal and promoting a circular economy approach.

The Turtle Playground in Bargara is a shining example of how sustainability and play can go hand-in-hand. With Play Matta's recycled plastic matting, the park now offers a safe and enjoyable experience for children while also reducing environmental impact. The use of recycled materials and the recyclability of the matting demonstrate a commitment to sustainability, and Play Matta's Re-Cover program further highlights the company's dedication to creating innovative and eco-friendly solutions for playgrounds. As awareness of environmental issues grows, sustainable playground solutions like Play Matta's are becoming increasingly popular in Australia and around the world.
